This was based on someone standing outside Vivace (best coffee in Seattle, in my over-caffeinated opinion), on Capitol hill. It's a great spot to people watch.
Well I've been drawing, but haven't had a chance to scan anything, so I'll have to throw up a few at once. Here's another character study. She looks like she could nag you TO DEATH.
This will soon be a painting, but for now, just a sketch.
I'm trying to develop a painting style I could conceivably use in comics, without it taking a year per page. Something fast and simplified, yet effective. I should have it figured out by the time I reach 60.
Here's one of the characters from an upcoming project. Inked with a mix of burnt umber acrylic ink and regular ol' black india. Next I'm going to ruin the whole damn thing with some heavy-handed overpainting.
Wow, I haven't posted in FOREVER. Here's a recent commission, this is 5'' by 5'', watercolor and gouache. And love. A lot of love.

I went to my first Sounders game last night, and I was inspired to draw this. I mean what is this, the dark ages? A game that can end with a 0-0 tie? Movies have taught me that never happens. I mean, even Rocky had a winner declared at the end.
I'm a freelance illustrator living in the Seattle area. I grew up in the desert, so after 7 years, I'm STILL not used to this infernal rain.
